Duluth Monarch Festival 2020

June 13 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

The fifth annual Duluth Monarch Festival is an opportunity to learn about saving monarch butterflies. Special guest Vicki Bonk will present the photo-filled keypoint “Grow Monarch Habitat.”

Bonk is the volunteer stewardship and outreach coordinator for Nokomis Naturescape, a 4-acre native planting, working with the local neighborhood association and park board in Minneapolis.

Another session this year: “Rearing Monarchs: Why or Why Not?” by Duluth Monarch Buddies.

Shoreview Natives, from Two Harbors, will be selling milkweed and other native pollinator plants, all from seed locally collected. Activities will include children’s crafts, face painting, storytelling, monarch movies and planting milkweed seeds. There will be live monarch eggs, caterpillars and butterflies.

The event is $5 for adult and free for children. There will be a lunch catered by United Campus Ministry and ice cream from Love Creamery.
